A
Major Road Initiative For The Parish And You Are Invited
To Make The Pledge!
‘Safe Lanes Drivers’
scheme is launched by Warnham Parish Council.
A traffic survey carried out
in 2004 identified the fast speed of ‘cut
through’ business traffic on the parish lanes. Speeds
of over 70 miles per hour were recorded. The Parish Plan
survey has once again re-iterated residents’
concerns about traffic speeds on the lanes and
the accident potential of high-speed
traffic combined with walkers, horse riders and other
road users. The results of the Parish Plan survey can
be viewed via the parish website.

The Safe Lanes
Drivers scheme is an initiative of West Sussex
County Council Highways and is supported by West Sussex
Police but is one that has to be adopted and
implemented by the residents. Residents simply make
the pledge to drive at a slow speed appropriate
to the lanes and show consideration to other road
users. Drivers display a bright ‘Safe Lanes Drivers’
car sticker to show other road users that the
pledge has been made and so reduce the speed on our
country lanes and act as an
example to others.
Warnham
School, Farlington School, retail and trade businesses
and the public houses of the parish are in full
support of this scheme as are residents that live on the
lanes in the parish as well as in the village.
This
scheme, and other speed reducing initiatives, all help
to illustrate to West Sussex County Council Highways and
West Sussex Police, residents commitment to reducing the
speeds in the roads and lanes of the Parish of Warnham.
